747 Supertanker videos, part 2

Yesterday we showed you a couple of videos produced by Global Supertanker, the company that resurrected the 747 air tanker first created by Evergreen. Here are two more featuring the new Tanker 944. I was surprised how interesting it was to see a HUGE aircraft being painted and having the retardant delivery system installed.

  1. When it’s not your money it’s easy to spend on making sure the people that think they need to know, really don’t. The basic’s of the 747 system have already been proven to work, put it on a fire and let’s see. It’s currently the most advanced system flying and is a valuable tool that if used correctly will produce results. I don’t understand why people aren’t talking about when the P2V’s will be retired, there more of safety hazard then almost anything else flying the mission. Their current safety record isn’t to good and YES, it does still work until there’s another accident. Why does it have to be crisis management to make something happen?

  2. Fire season ’16 is burning right along. The delivery system has already been approved by the ITAB. Retesting will certainly cause a lengthy delay. Conditional CWN; place the air tanker into service as a fire asset (real fire, real terrain) and let field observers (ground fire fighters) report on what they are seeing. Between ATGS, ASM’s, Leads, Helco’s and the ground feedback this should validate the use (or not) of this air tanker.

    1. Johnny?..you’re using to much sensible logic.using a system like you describe, real world, real time, isn’t on the list of “what should be done”,their stuck on,hey let’s waste time and money and make sure everyone has a chance to see it first..

      just my opinion……..
